West Kennet Chambered Tomb (Avebury Wiltshire )

Getting down to Avebury was on top of the Megalithic site list . 

The place and the area surrounding the place is absolutely mind blowing . So much to see . So little time .  Which meant not everything on my list was checked off . Will return sometime .

Sarn Helen Maen Madoc

Maen Madoc (grid ref sn924192)

Bronze age stone set on moorland  close to Sarn Helen - Roman road used to supply troops on the frontline during the invasion of Wales beginning in AD 42 . 

Latin inscription on one side of the stone 'DERVAC - FILIUS/IVST  -hICIACIT ' ' Of Dervicus , Son Of Justus ,He lies here .' 

Memorial to a fallen soldier ..

Bronze Age stone 10 feet high .
